ABOUT CAVALRY LOGISTICS

After spending years working for others in our industry, Bob King felt frustrated. Company after company focused on shareholder profits rather than the hardworking contributors within. Bob understood that it was these forgotten individuals who were truly responsible for building their organization’s success every day, yet they were ignored! In 2005, Bob created a business model built around a single mission – to change people’s lives! It is from that model that Cavalry Logistics was born in Nashville, TN. Today, our singular purpose is still built around our people. We will continue to push forward by fostering a culture and community that is focused on the individuals within.

What We Believe In

Core Value #1
Focus on the Person

We have a vision, and that is to change people’s lives. Our motivation isn’t just moving freight, it’s our customers, carriers, and team members. To us, one’s effort speaks volumes over what their talents are on paper.

Core Value #2
Development

Our team hungers for wisdom and thirsts for knowledge. We encourage reading for personal development while holding regular 1-on-1 meetings with team leaders to create an open environment for questions and wisdom.

Core Value #3
Significance

A feeling of significance, when paired with humility and authenticity, clears the way for quick and confident decision making. Even when decisions aren’t perfect, they encourage teachable moments and curious minds. Without mistakes, there is no learning, and without learning, there is no progress! “Fail Better!”

Core Value #4
Scorecard

Individual scorecards and defined weekly goals encourage our team members to gauge themselves against their peers while providing a boost of self-motivation to “crush it where you’re at”!

Core Value #5
Recognition

How do our team member’s see themselves? We strive to create momentum to help strengthen their weaknesses. It’s about the root, not the fruit.

Behind the Cavalry Name

When our President, Bob King, founded his new company in 2005 he knew it needed a name that would fit the type of business and culture he had envisioned. He called upon the legacy of former U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt for inspiration. Teddy, a fiercely dynamic man, was focused on the arts as well as his military service. Through his diverse knowledge, Teddy understood how to unite a team together under a single cause. In 1898, during the Spanish-American war, he formed a wildly successful volunteer cavalry known as “The Rough Riders”. Their primary purpose was to divide a force and bring back information. (Look them up, they’re awesome!)

Unsurprisingly, Bob saw an immediate correlation with these riders and his own vision. His company would be a cavalry that created capacity and changed the lives of those within it. Through culture, they would work closely together to be as dynamic and successful in the transportation industry as the “Rough Riders” had been during the war. Bob’s vision finally had a name. The rest is (literally) history! We’re “Cavalry Logistics”; nice to meet you!
